Ms Mahadia Tunga is a Lecturer of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering(CSE), University of  Dar es Salaam. She received a Masters’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and a PhD in Data Science from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2009, 2014 and 2023, respectively. Her PhD in Data Science focused on predicting the cause of death using verbal autopsy surveys. Her research interests include open science, machine learning, natural language processing, data mining, and geospatial technologies. She has been involved in various projects at the department and delivered consultancies with organizations such as Tanzania Data Lab (dLab), World Bank, Millennium Challenge Cooperation(MCC), Open Data Institute(ODI), World Wide Web(WWW), etc.
