Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission into this programme, the student should satisfy the general University od Dar es Salaam minimum requirements for admission into a PhD programme. Additionally, applications should have a master's degree from institutions recognized by Tanzania Commision for Universities (TCU) in:

  1. Either Computer and IT Systems Engineering or any ICT related programmes 
  2. Electrical Engineering-related Programmes with IT courses.

Fee Structure

For Tanzanian students, the school fee for this programme is TZS 2,500,000/= per year. For international students, the fee is USD 4,020 per year. The fee can be paid in instalments per semester.

Program Outcomes

Upon the completion of the PhD in Computer and IT Systems Engineering, graduates will be able to:

  1. Work across multiple disciplines to solve complex problems.
  2. Apply systems engineering approach to the development of computer-based information systems.
  3. Create new knowledge that focuses on national and local challenges while taking into consideration the local context and going beyond the current state-of-the-art solutions and existing business models.
  4. Create jobs through innovations and generate new knowledge by systematically integrating the knowledge triangle, i.e., education-research-innovation, at all education levels.
  5. Provide futuristic leadership in addressing societal challenges by using the challenge-driven Technology Transfer Alliance (TTA) model and Doctoral Training Centre concepts.
  6. Conduct in-depth research, both individually as well as in teams, in computer and information technology systems-related areas.
